ANNUAL REPORT
PERMITEE NAME: The Regents of the University of Colorado
PERMIT NO: M-1981-302
OPERATION NAME: Deepe Farm Pit
ANNIVERSARY DATE: Apri120, 2002
ANNUAL FEE DUE: $688.00
COUNTY: Boulder
On November 28, 2000, the Division of Minerals and Geology approved the succession
of operators from Western Mobile Boulder, Inc. to the Regents of the University of
Colorado for the Deepe Farm Pit, Permit No. M-1981-302.
Since April, 2001 the following activities have occurred on the Deepe Farm Pit parcel.
1) On_¢oing weed management occurred on the Deepe Farm Pit as a part of on-
going good land stewazdship and reclamation requirements of this permit. These
weed management tasks will continue during the spring, summer and/or Fall of
2002.
2) May through mid-July, 2001 - A drainage improvement project was undertaken
on a portion of the Deepe Farm Pit pazcel. We have included a map indicating the
areas where improvements were made on this mining permitted site.
Additionally, it should be noted that some of the work to be completed was on a
portion of the Turnpike Pit. The work included: removal of approximately four
acres of woody vegetation which have developed as a result of surface drainage
on the property; filling in small pocket low spots to meet reclamation approved
ground elevations; excavation for the installation of 4,000 lineal feet of 8-inch
perforated pipe buried in french drain fashion for groundwater drainage control
and transporting water below surface to the existing ponds on site; backfilling of
the azeas where the pipeline was installed; restoring the topsoil over the disturbed
areas and re-seeding with the approved reclamation seed mix and mulching of all
disturbed areas. Also, included in this project was the cleaning and clay lining of
a portion of an irrigation ditch, a short segment of which is located within the
Deepe Farm Pit boundaries. This drainage project was completed in mid-July,
2001. The contractor was very careful to minimize his areas of disturbance and
all azeas disturbed during this project were reclaimed, per approved specifications.
This work was approved prior to commencement via a letter of authorization from
the Division of Minerals and Geology.
