• Consumptive Use
The Bowie No. 2 Mine now extracts dust suppressioq shower and sanitary water from the Deer
Trail Ditch via the new pump station located on the Deer Trail ditch as shown on Map-15-1 of the
permit application. During the first months of operation and while the pump station and water
line was constructed, water was pumped from this ditch into a water truck, hauled to the portal
area and stored in a temporary tank for fire protection and underground dust suppression.
Additional water from this source was hauled via the water truck for dust abatement on the mine
access roads. Accurate consumptive use records could not be collected during this period. No
consumptive use records are therefore reported m the 1997 Mine Water Inflow study, ahhough
usage would have been similar to the usage experienced at the Bowie No. 1 Mine, on a per ton
basis.
The pump station is now fully operable and metered. Accurate consumptive use records will be
presented in the 1998 Mine Water Inflow study, reflecting usage for both the 1998 period and the
previous months when data collection began
Conclusions
It is reasonable to assume that during the 1997 Mine Water Inflow study seasoq less than 10
gallons per minute are flowing into the mine workings of the Bowie No. 2 Mine.
J
•
