This site presents both significant safety and environmental hazards. The <br /> Black Hat mine has an open adit, partially open and unstable vertical shaft, <br /> stable but hazardous tipple structure and a spoil pile that partially blocks a <br /> - large tributary drainage to La Sal Creek. The Blue Cap mine, which is an adjacent <br /> and associated mine, has a very large spoil pile blocking Lion Canyon. Perennial <br /> water flows from an adit and a spring across portion of the spoil and into La <br /> Sal rreek , "e snn�l pile is m etable and severely -rnlinn. Roth sit-s are <br /> visible from a major highway. St. Patrick's mine has a gated adit and potentially <br /> live electrical leads as well as a moderate spoil pile. <br /> e <br />
