The property is owned
jointly by Denver Water and the South Adams County Water and Sanitation District. The pit was mined
by Albert Frei & Sons until February 2003, when the miner completed his work and turned the property
over to the owners. Denver Water installed a slurry wall along the western and eastern boundaries of
the excavation beginning in August 2003. The slurry wall ties into the embankment created at the
Howe-Haller excavation on the southwest comer of the Hazeltine property and extends around the
Roadmnners Rest No. II and Brinkmann-Woodward Pits, tying back into an embankment to be
constructed on the Howe-Haller site near the southeast comer of the Hazeltine property.
The slurry wall was constructed in 2003 because of the impacts of the constmction of 120`h Avenue on
the properties acquired by Denver Water and South Adams for gravel pit storage. The 120`h Avenue
project and the slurry wall are shown on the enclosed map. The enclosed map also depicts the location
of the Hazeltine Pit in relation to other properties owned by Denver Water and South Adams.
Denver Water is currently preparing an amendment to be filed with DMG, which amends the
reclamation plan for the Hazeltine Pit to include the slurry wall and its appurtenances and changes to
the end-use of the property.
Auditor's Warrant No. 76170 in the amount of $688 is enclosed as payment of the annual fee.
If you have any questions regarding Denver Water's plans, please contact the undersigned at 303-628-
6474.
Sincerely,
Michael L.
