iii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii •
999

December 15, 1978
State of Colorado
Department of Natural Resources
Mined Land Reclamation Board
723 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re: Kauffman Pit
Your File No. 78-327
Dear Sirs:
I am a Wildlife Conservation Officer with the Colorado
Division of Wildlife for the Loveland District.
..
Jake Kauffman and his attorney have indicated that you
wish to have my thoughts with regard to plans for reclaiming
the area known as the Kauffman Pit and with regard to wildlife
presently existing in that area. The wildlife presently in
the area would generally include some beaver and muskrat,
pheasant, geese, cottontail rabbits, songbirds, and warm-
water fish, including bass, which have been introduced by
the Kauffmans.
I have talked to Jake Kauffman about his plans for re-
claiming the area as fish ponds and wildlife habitat,
including a recent conversation in this regard. I am familiar
with his plans for reclaiming the area and feel that they
are appropriate and will provide beneficial habitat for
wildlife in the area.
I know Jake Kauffman to be very concerned with providing
for wildlife in the area and am confident that the Kauffmans
will do a good job in making provisions for wildlife in
reclaiming this area. I wish all individuals and companies
would show the same concern for wildlife that the Kauffmans
do.
Sincerely,
,y~i 1 /
Elvy Wag er ~'
3215 Sheridan Avenue
Loveland, Colorado 80537
