Page 2
inconsistency. The records for OK-a do not show any unusual values and the
trends follow the patterns of previous years. The Koll and Homestead Ditch
records are fairly good except for periods where records were lost because
of recorder pen problems or times when the stilling well was blocked by.
silt.
III. ANNUAL SALT LOADING ESTIMATE
The hydrographs for 1983 are similar to both the 1982 and baseline
hydrographs during the base flow with the snowmelt runoff peaking in late
June and with a higher total runoff than average. The water quality data
for 1983 show similar dissolved solid concentrations during base flow when
compared to baseline concentrations. This substantiates the conclusion
that the observed field conditions follow the permit predictions as was
noted for 1982 and again for 1983• The mean TDS concentration in the 41est
Ridge pond discharge was 1570 mg/1 (standar3 deviation = 770). It is
believed that this lower than predicted mean concentration is a result of
higher than predicted snowmelt runoff rather than any significant change in
water quality.
IV. CROP PRODUCTIVITY MONITORING
Table 1 shows the crop productivity for 1983. Crop productivity on
three (3) of the five (5) ranches exceeded 1982 yield levels. However, two
(2) of the five (5) ranches exhibited the lowest yields as compared to the
previous six (6) year average. This was attributed to irrigation
distribution problems experienced during critical summer periods.
