While this is not the first time you
have felt these seismic tremors (others felt in January and May of
1993) this episode was the strongest in your opinion. Upon
inspection of your trailer, you discovered a cracked concrete block
supporting your mobile home as well as some separation of the
outside panelling seams over a portion of the home. At that time,
you contacted Twentymile Coal Company and discussed the situation
with them. Mr. Rick Mills and Mr.Gary Buchan of TCC then visited
your home and inspected the damage identified as well as
hypothesized the possible cause of this seismic event.
DMG Inspection
Mr. Ashley House of Twentymile Coal Company (TCC) and Kent Gorham
of the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) met with Mr.
Dennis Hayes at his mobile home residence located along Fish Creek
at Routt county road #27. After some discussion we proceeded
outside to inspect possible damage due to seismic vibrations caused
by subsidence. Vertical seams between the siding of the home
appeared slightly separated and the nails appeared to be popped out
slightly in places. These separations appeared fresh and un-
weathered. The concrete block was not viewed since it was behind
the apron which covers the supporting foundation of the home. We
proceeded to the location of a spring which normally flows for
about 6 weeks in the spring of the year. The spring was currently
dry. According to Mr. Hayes, it did not flow this year but was wet
