III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
999
STATE OF COLORADO
~7
•

Roy Romer, Governor
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
FRED R. BANTA, Director
T0: Susan Mowry ~`, -~,~-~~
I \
FROM: Jim Pendleton ~~
RE: Blue R n Bench ility Monitoring Results
DATE: July 19, 1988
I have reviewed the letter monitoring report submitted to you by Jim Stover,
Chief Engineer for Blue Ribbon Coal Company. This report presents the slope
stability survey results for the seven monuments placed on the face of the
rebuilt and reclaimed mine bench at the Blue Ribbon mine. The data suggest
that all the stability monuments have risen between .03 and .24 feet. This is
probably due to a minor inaccuracy in bringing in control from the benchmark
monument. The relationship between the monuments is similar to previous
surveys. Therefore, I conclude that the bench is structurally stable.
I recommend that you accept the survey results as submitted. I suggest that
you bring the apparent inaccuracy to the operator's attention and suggest that
they attempt to determine the source of the inaccuracy during their next
nromal slope stability monitoring survey.
215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
