' I. INTRODUCTION
1.01 General
On behalf of CAMAS Colorado/Cooley Gravel Division (CAMAS), Haley & Aldrich, Inc.
' (Haley & Aldrich) has prepared [his Geotechnical Addendum to the 1998 Notice of Intent to
Continue Mining Operations/Annual Report for [he subject Regular (112) Mining and
Reclama[ion Permit. This conforms to Rule 6, Section 6.5 and is also required to comply
with Permit Amendment No. 5, carried over from Permit Amendment Nos. 3 and 4.
Specifically, this exhibit provides supplemental data required by the Division of Minerals and
Geology (DMG) per Stipula[ion No. 4 in the Let[er of Conditional Approval of Amendment
' 4, dated 16 February 1995.
~ 1.02 Purpose and Scope
' T
"
"
he permit Amendments describe in detail an
Observa[ional Method
to mine slope
development being imp]emented at [he quarry whereby conservatively designed "default"
slope angles may be modified to steeper configurations based on ongoing observation of slope
performance, collection of rock mass property data, and slope stability evaluations. Default
slope angles consist of a one to one ratio of highwall height to bench width (1H:1 V) slopes
with maximum 80 ft highwalls and 80 ft benches everywhere, except the east side of the
' Cenral Quarry, are implemented wi[hou[ special geotechnical analyses based on prior
analyses of global condi[ions at the quarry. In the east side of [he Central Quarry, 1.SH:1 V
default slopes (40 ft highwalls and 50 to 60 ft benches) were recommended as part of a slope
' failure repair design included in the referenced permit amendments.
LJ

1

1

1

' G ~PROIECT5~3@00 Alornwn Qwrry~00:~nnnutl Rcpon Gmin~M1nmy ntlaendum4998\98rpi rturtup dw Page 1
