collection ditch under access road 7. Drainage from that culvert flows through another
30" CMP under access road 3A and into the northeast end of pond 10. Drainage from
the west collection ditch is designed to flow through three 35" wide, 24" high CMPs
under access road 3A into the northwest end of pond 10.
The surface of CRDA-2's fifth lift was operational and was not final graded. The fourth
bench below it was under construction to correct drainage problems that resulted from
previous heavy rain. No significant ponding on the pile's surface was noted. Refuse
was windrowed at the pile's east end prior to being spread and compacted in layers s
24" thick. The permanent diversion was constructed in its final location. Reclamation
of the lower two lifts was completed. Overall, reclamation of CRDA-2 appeared to be
contemporaneous. Revegetation appeared to be well established, including shrub
species. We didn't check the depth of cover soil because DMG previously verified it as
noted above. No water was flowing in the ditches or diversion and the pond was dry.
Field measurements were taken to spot-check CRDA-2's construction and were
approximate. Measurements taken were as follows:
A. Fourth bench:
`slope steepness between 3rd and 4th benches =38%
'slope length between 3rd and 4th benches 84' (lift height = 30')
B. Third bench:
1. @ pt. 100 yards west of east collection ditch:
`bench width =17'; bench inslope = 4%
`grade to east collection ditch = 2% to 3%
'grade from drainage break point to point 100 yards west of east
collection ditch, = 3%
'slope steepness between 2nd and 3rd benches, =38%
`slope length between 2nd and 3rd benches 71.5' (lift height = 25')
2. @ west end:
`bench width =18'; bench inslope = 4%
`grade to west end @ access road = 2% to 3%
`slope steepness between 2nd and 3rd benches = 41
`slope length between 2nd and 3rd benches 72' (lift height of = 27')
C. Second bench:
1. @ pt. about 100 yards west of east collection ditch:
`bench width =9.5'; bench inslope = 9%
'grade from 100 yards west of east collection ditch to east
collection ditch = 3%
`bench slope from drainage break point to point 100 yards west of east
7
