As of this time approximately 400,000 yards of low quality coal
stockpile exists above grade. This is based on a survey of the
completed during late February and then truck counts were utilized
to estimate the material placed in the pile since that time. The
original estimate presented indicated that approximately 530,000
tons would be in the stockpile at the end of 1994. However, this
prior estimate was based upon truck counts hauling low quality coal
to the stockpile. However, it is apparent this method
overestimated the amount hauled to the stockpile as the survey
conducted during February indicated a much lower volume. A visual
inspection of the existing stockpile demonstrates there is still
sufficient volume to carry Twentymile through 1994 without getting
near the final configuration of the 700,000 ton stockpile. Also,
Twentymile is expecting the production of low quality coal to
diminish during the mining of the 15W longwall panel. The fault
does not exist in this panel, nor the parting that existed in the
prior panel. Given these facts Twentymile is confident the
stockpile will not approach the 700,000 ton limit during 1994.
The preparation plant is planned to become operational during May
or June of 1995. A technical revision is being prepared which once
approved will allow for site preparation and construction of some
of the building foundations during late summer and into the fall.
Once the plant becomes operational low quality coal will be
processed and reduction of the stockpile will commence.
Please advise as to any additional information you may require to
finalize this request to delay construction of the approved
stockpile until a later date. In the interim if there are
questions please contact me at your convenience.
Sincerely,
C%~/i!%L(/~t
Richard Mills
Manager, Surface/Environment
rte: ~: ~wps ~ ~p~e4~odn.ea
