Box 897
29515 Routt County Road 27
Oak Creek, Colorado 80467
Re: 1985 Annual Subsidence Survey Report - File No. C-82-056
Dear Mr. Damrau:
The Division has reviewed the 1985 annual subsidence monitoring report. The
report was found to be clear, concise and thorough. Only one concern was
noted. Slope stability monuments placed at the toe of the fill slope south of
the portals have undergone significant movement. Monument SP-1 underwent
.4 feet of movement prior to its removal in September, 1984. Monument SP-2
has undergone .9 feet of movement to date.
It is assumed that the monuments are reflecting consolidation effects of the
backfill spoil. However, a simple surface reconnaissance should be conducted
to determine if there is any evidence of differential movement in the spoil.
Slope areas within 1,000 feet to the south, 1,000 feet to the east and
500 feet to the west of monument SP-2 should be covered by the reconnaissance.
We request that the results of the reconnaissance be submitted in letter form
as a supplement to the annual subsidence report. The survey should be
conducted and the report should be submitted by Maly 1, 1986.
