I show that 22.9 inches were actually replaced. This indicates that more topsoil was originally removed
during initial disturbance than anticipated.
Tab 21, Minesoil Reconstruction (PR-05) indicated an estimated avuage of 1.6 feet (19.2 inches)
would be replaced over final graded spoIl in the South II-W area, however 2005 sampling
measurements showed that 22.1 inches were actually replaced, while 2006 measurements indicate that
the replacement depths were reduced to 15.7 inches for an overall average of 22.1 inches. Perntit
Revision OS and discussions with the Division have detemilned that variable replacement thicknesses
over the remaining area would be desirable. As shown in the topsoil balance above, a minimum
average of 1.3 feet is available.
• Seeding and Shrub Planting
•
A total of 109.3 acres were seeded in 2006. The majority of the area was seeded using Seed Mix No.l
(see Table 06.2, Seed Mix No.l, for constituents). Seed Mix No.2, Mesic Drainage/Riparian, was used
along the constructed portion of channel PM-3 (see Table 06.3, Seed Mix No. 2, for constituents).
Of the 109.3 acres seeded/planted, 7.8 acres axe newly established shrub plots. These shrub sites were
established in the TS pond, 016A Pond and north D pit areas. The sites were prepared by roughening
the soil with small hummocks in an attempt to increase snow water retention. These areas were hand
seeded with Concentrated Shmb Seeding Mix No.6 (see Table 06.4, Seed Mix No.6, for constiments).
Shrub Plots. Approximately 41,058 seedlings and 2,370 one gallon sized shrubs and trees were
planted at II-W, with another 1030 Aspens transplanted, locations of the sites are shown on the
attached 2006 Reclamation Map. Following is the breakdown indicating the numbu of species
planted in each area.

S cies North Atea
Fenced Below T5
Poad Fenced South Pit
As n Plot Ponds &
Dtaina
Total
s en #1 0 0 2,030 0 2,030
S e 3,500 4,000 300 3,200 11,000
itterbrush 550 0 0 0 55
ox Elder 0 100 500 100 700
uffalob 500 75 0 0 575
hokecher 300 30 100 0 430
ottonwood 0 400 1,000 130 1,530
arrant 500 1,200 2,000 500 4,200
0 ood 0 0 700 1000 1700
ountain Maho an 0 0 124 124 24
ak #] 0 0 500 904 90
ak 10 Cu." 1,500 1,000 2,000 1,200 5,700
ervicebe #1 100 96 200 70 466
ervicebe 10 Cu." 2,000 900 500 0 3,
ilver S e 2,500 2,500 0 0 5,000
nowbe 0 500 500 0 1,000
ood Rose 3,000 800 1,000 225 5,025
TOTAL 14,450 11,601 11,454 6,953 44,458
`J
