Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: rn-tQR7-n7~
INSPECTION DATE: ro/~~ina INSPECTOR=S INTfIALS: _IAS-
1. A site inspection of the Lee No. 2 Placer was conducted as part of the Division's ongoing 4-year inspection program.
The Division last inspected the site in July, 2000. Present during the inspection was Mr. Stanley J. Conner. The Lee No. 2
Placer is located in lower Russell Gulch, approximately 3 miles southeast of Central City, Colorado.
2. The operator has obtained a mining claim from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for a total of 40 acres and has
obtained a mining and reclamation permit from the Division for 1 acre of disturbance. The mining claim is specified as
Lee #2 Placer Claim/gold/SE 40 acres, NWl/4 Section 20, T3S, R72W, Gilpin County. The operator has posted a financial
warranty of $1,200. The post-mining land use is pastureland.
3. The mining plan consists of removing creek bed materials, processing them through a trommel and sluice box, then re-
depositing these materfaTS~ack into the creek bed. A pit-with dimensions oT~00 x 300 feet will be filled with water""and ---
used as part of the placer operation. The operator has specified that ore materials will be processed on site without the
use of any chemicals or hazardous substances.
4. There was virtually no mining disturbance at the Lee No. 2 Placer at the time of inspection, except for a variety of
miscellaneous mining equipment that occurred on site prior to 1987 when Mr. Conner acquired a mining and reclamation
permit. Mr. Conner has done a good job of backfilling and grading disturbed areas in the creek bed and surrounding area
to natural wntours that blend in with the surrounding topography. There was no pit or exposed water noted. The
operator has also removed several loads of non-roadable mining equipment. Only hand, broadcast seeding of
approximately 0.5 acres would be required to complete reclamation of the current disturbance, This inspector finds that
the $1,200 reclamation bond is adequate to complete reclamation of the current disturbance.
5. A permit I.D. sign was posted near the entrance to the site and permit boundary markers were also noted. All mining
disturbances were found to be within the permit boundary.
6. There were no problems noted.
RECEIVED
SEP 1 5 2004
Division ~t Minerals and Geology
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Stanlev J.
