Colony Shale Oil Project
Section 112 Annual Report
Mai
The map, "Affected Land Status -Figure 3," was not updated this year, because the status of
lands did not change since last year. It will be updated with next year's annual report.
Coarse Ore Valley Stabilization/Reclamation
In June, 2001 we began a three year Coarse Ore Valley Stabilization Project to smooth some
rough areas and improve the vegetation of Area 17.
Earthwork for the 2003 phase of the project was begun in August and completed in October,
2003. No new acreage was disturbed. As of this report, materials for revegetation are on site,
and fertilization/reseeding began on October 21. It is projected to be complete during the week
of November 3, unless we have an early snow, which appears to be unlikely. Because we have
not completed revegetation and will not by the anniversary of our permit, that work and our
seed mix will be reported next year.
Last year we were unable to obtain suitable the Douglas Fir (pseudotsuga menziesii glauca)
seed called for in our original revegetation plan. We have located another seed source and
hope to obtain most of the seed required. If we are successful, the planned areas will be
seeded in the spring of 2004 and reported in our 2004 annual report.
If the Division would prefer that we submit an interim report, we would be glad to do so,
preferably after April, 2004 when fir seeding should be complete.
Affected Land Status
Permitted acreage 6778
Historic Disturbances To Date Past Year
Affected acreage 1134 0
Reclaimed acreage 128 0
Planned Disturbances Next Year
Affected acreage 0
Reclaimed acreage (Area 17) 14
Beginning of active operations June 13, 1980
Date active operations ceased NA, ongoing
