The enclosed aerial photo indicates quarries totaling in excess
of 30 acres of disturbance on one parcel between Steamboat Mountain and
Steamboat Canyon Road north of Lyons, Colorado. This established use
preceeded the special use requirements for same in 1975 and are not governed
by the limited impact grading and excavation permit criteria as adopted in
1980. The Agricultural zoning district allows for open mining, .and minor
zoning matters remaining on the premises unrelated to mining will be
brought into compliance through the cooperative efforts of Leonard Loukonen
and Boulder County.
Therefore, the Mined Land Reclamation board is encouraged to proceed with
the full process for permitting a reclamation permit on the Loukonen Quarry
without any conflict from the local zoning jurisdictions.
Sincerely
•
~h ~ ~~_
Thomas J.
