(BMRI) -San Luis <br />DMG Permit No. M-88-112 <br />1999 Annual Report <br />Dear Mr. Dillie: <br />The following is a summary of activities at BMRI's San Luis Mine during 1999. <br />Reclamation Activities <br />The following is a description of reclamation activities for 1999. (See attached map.) <br />San Luis Valley Earthmovers (SLVE) placed 104,202 cubic yards of Santa Fe material in the , <br />Tailings Impoundment to cap the tailings and attain grade. Approximately 22 acres of tailings <br />is remaining to be capped. No top soil or seeding occurred on the tailings impoundment in 1999. <br />The stormwater diversion upgrade moved forward the last quarter. The three blocked drainages <br />north of Waste Rock "C" were opened up and allowed to flow into a lined armored channel that is <br />being constructed to carry the flow to the West Pit BMP. By year's end 1700 feet of GCL fabric <br />had been placed to line the armored channel. A total of 12,443 cubic yards of Santa Fe material <br />had been placed to bring the channels to grade. 987 cubic yards of minus 18 inch wrip wrap and <br />414 cubic yards of minus 4 inch "K" rock was placed in the lined channels. A total of 4,565 cubic <br />yards of top soil was placed in areas where new disturbance occurred as a result of the new <br />stormwter diversion. No seeding occurred in the top soiled areas. <br />250 mountain mahogany and 250 golden currant seedlings were planted on the main <br />embankment of the Tailings Impoundment.
