Box 333
Lyons, Colorado
RE: Sandstone quarry operations
Our File N81-277
Dear Mr. Loukonen:
I have reviewed the above applications for adequacy and have the following
comments and questions which are intended to aid you in bringing this
application into full compliance with the law and to the satisfaction of
the Mined Land Reclamation Board. Please address the following items in
detail as soon as possible.
Exhibit B - Mining Plan
1. What is the expected life-span of the quarry operations?
2. Any topsoil that is encountered should be salvaged and stockpiled
for later use in reclamation. Similarly, any excess rubble and
fines should be saved for later use in reclamation.
3. Will any new access roads be constructed?
Exhibit C - Maps
1. Please submit a map showing information sufficient to determine
the location of the affected lands on the ground and existing
access routes. The submitted maps and photographs are good and
very helpful but a smaller scale map would greatly facilitate
field location of these quarries. The appropriate portion of a
topographic map or county map would be sufficient.
Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan
1. Please specify the types, mixtures, and quanities of grasses to
be planted.
