Long
Division Director
RE: Third party monitoring; Battle Mountain Gold Company; San Luis
Project; M-88-112
Dear Mr. Kluksdahl:
With this letter, the Division of Minerals and Geology is releasing the
report entitled, "Summary Report: Third-party Monitoring of Battle
Mountain Resource Inc.'s San Luis Gold Mine, March 4-5, 1992." This
report was prepared by Dr. Ann Maest, RCG/Hagler, Bailly, Inc. for the
DMG and Battle Mountain Resources, Inc. under order from the Mined Land
Reclamation Board. In addition, the Division approves for payment
itemized expenses for March, April and May 1993 for the second, third,
and fourth sampling trips, and for expenses incurred in writing the
Summary Report for the second monitoring trip.
The Summary Report, dated June 14, 1993, includes a summary and
assessment of third party sampling activities conducted at the San Luis
Mine in March 1993, a summary and assessment of analytical activities
conducted by an independent analytical laboratory, and contains
recommendations for future sampling.
Interested parties reading this report should be aware of several
items. The analytical time exceeded that prescribed in the MOU but did
not exceed holding times. Recommendations for changes in the sampling
and analysis plan are addressed later in this letter and are not
considered binding to BMG. The sampling protocol followed during this
sampling differs from the original owing to changes made following the
first sampling event.
The Division requests that BMG please distribute copies of the report
for public examination.
