A one hour survey each of Seneca II - W from 0930 to 1030 and <br />Yost from 0830 to 0930 hours was made. . <br />Seneca II -Numerous elk were observed within the Seneca II survey area (Table 2). One group <br />of approximately 100 elk were observed just west of the mine in open sagebrush habitat near the <br />powerlines. Other groups of elk were observed around the mine area. A total of eight deer were <br />observed in two separate observations. Three Golden Eagles were observed at two separate locations. <br />A pair of eagles were observed at an active nest site in section 27 north o£ the mine. Another eagle <br />was observed feeding on a carcass on the ground south of the mine. <br />Yost - A total of 63 elk were observed on the Yost survey area mainly in mountain brush habitat. <br />No observations of deer were made on this survey area. Two Golden Eagles were observed at an <br />active nest site on a sandstone cliff in section 7. No sage grouse were observed in the open areas in <br />the northern portion of the study area. Sage grouse were observed strutting in areas well beyond the <br />survey area during the flight to the survey area. <br />Seneca II \Vest -Numerous elk were observed within the survey area. Many of the animals were <br />starting to bed down in mountain brush habitat making them difficult to observe. A total of 22 deer <br />were observed within the survey area. Two Golden Eagles were observed at an active nest site in . <br />Hubberson Gulcli. <br />Table 2.
