slopes at the lower elevations were free of snow while upper elevations were snow covered, The <br />survey was initiated at 1000 hours and terminated at 1230 hours. A survey of Seneca II -West area <br />was made in one hour. A one half hour survey each of Seneca II and Yost was made. The Seneca II <br />area was flown from 100 to 1030 hours. The Yost area was flown from 1030 to 1130 hours. The <br />Seneca II -West area was flown from 1130 to 1230 hours. <br />Most of the deer and elk were observed bedded in mountain brush habitat making it extremely <br />difficult to observe them. <br />Seneca II -Few elk were observed within the Seneca II survey area (Table 1). One group of 12 <br />elk were observed just west of the mine bedded in mountain brush habitat. From the tracks in the <br />snow it appeared the they had been feeding on the revegetated portions of the mine. Numerous deer <br />tracks were also observe in the revegetation portions of the mine but no sightings of deer were made. <br />One observation of a coyote was made just west of the mine. No eagles were observed. <br />Yost - No observations of elk or deer were made on this survey area. Few old tracks were <br />observed. One sighting of an immature Golden Eagle was made flying over the southeastern portion <br />of the property. <br />Seneca II -West -Numerous elk were observed within the survey area. Most of the animals were <br />bedded in mountain brush habitat, however by the end of the survey flight several of the animals <br />within the groups were standing. One coyote was observed.
