• 6.0 Mine Water Information
Outfall 011 -Sanborn Creek Mine Water Discharge
Outfall 011 is the OMLLC -CDPS mine water discharge point from Sanbom Creek Mine that
discharged into Sanbom Creek. Outfal] O11 was sampled in accordance with the requirements of
the CDPS discharge permit.
The data collected from Outfall 011, along with the results of laboratory analyses are presented
in Exhibit 2 -Groundwater Information. Minimum and maximum measurements for the
baseline year(s) of this resource may be referenced in the OMLLC 1998 Annual Hydrology
Report.
Although analyses of mine water samples may show higher Ievels than baseline data for some
parameters, based on a January 30, 1995, Colorado School of Mines, Division of Environmental
Science and Engineering final report entitled, "Aquatic Impairment Study of the Sanbom Creek
Mine Discharge, Somerset, Colorado", OMLLC believes that no impact resulted. The report
concluded that mine water discharges from the Sanborn Creek Mine had minimal effect on
stream macroinvertebrates. Also, there was little, if any effect on the overall food base for fish,
and the use of the river for fishing was not impaired.
• The Sanborn Creek Mine water drainage system was decommissioned on May 21, 2003. Since
the mine completed it's last panel, the underground hardware was removed and the entries were
sealed in accordance with MSHA requirements.
The CDMG has received copies of all required submittals of Discharge Monitoring Reports
(DMR's) and Whole Effluent Toxicity (Wet) testing reports forwarded to the Colorado Division
of Water Resources. No significant changes in discharges were noted during the short time that
Outfall 011 discharged in 2003.

13
