Lincoln De rick
Colorado Westmoreland, Inc.
P.O. Box 1299
Paonia, Colorado 81428
RE: Orchard Valley Mine, File IJo. C-83-038,
Semi-Annual Subsidence Report
Dear tdr. De rick:
The Division has reviewed the semi-annual subsidence report dated
November 10, 1988. We are concerned that the August survey data shows a
relatively uniform rise in the few associated wide spaced monuments. This
departure from the past subsidence character of this mine, lead us to suspect
that either an error in location of the control station survey occurred or
that the control monuments moved due to some other influence.
k'e request that Colorado Westmoreland, Inc. verify the survey elevations for
control stations 46, 250, and 306 in order to determine if these movements are
correct. This verification should be complete by next summer or as melt-off
of snow allows.
Sincerely,
%~ / / l~->
J.~pto n
Reclamation Specialist
JMC/scg
1668E
215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
