Mr. Kent Gorham
July 14, 1994
Page 6
accordance with the appropriately developed monitoring program, additional
subsidence monitoring becomes unnecessary and can cease.
o Permit language already exists indicating the termination of monument
surveying will be handled on an individual basis once data shwas
subsidence has ceased (see page 2.05-147).
o CaVCC maintains that the existing subsidence and hydrology monitoring
programs achieve ample protection of private land holdings and hydrology
resources and that additional surveying would not increase the degree of
protection already affonied.
In summary, ~VCC does not at this time concur with the Division's suggestion
that a technical revision is required to modify Permit No. C-81-038 in order to
establish conq~liance with Rule 2.05.6(6). COVCC maintains that the permit in its
current form is sufficient and adequately meets the requirements of the
regulations. In the event the Division provides GOVCC with additional specific
information or guidance regarding this issue, GOVCC will strive to review and
consider the information and make appropriate changes to the permit docwnent as
necessary in a timely fashion. Thank you for your cooperation and patience in
awaiting COVCC's response in this matter.
