The City of Florence has historically
diverted most of the available etreamflov of Newlin Creek upstream of the
' mine Bite, resulting in a predominately dry stream channel for a distance
of nine miles to Newlin Creek's confluence with Hardscrabble Creek. The principal consumptive use of water at
the mine site is dust control within the mine. Future production of raw
' coal at the mine is expected to reach 780.000 tone. At this production
rate. mining will continue until approximately 1996 and the annual
' consumptive use of water is estimated to be 58.8 acre-feet. with 4.6
acre-feet per month consumptively used in the winter and 5.5 acre-feet per
' month consumptively used in the summer.
Conclusion
Rater aviilable in the ground water system may be used at the mine site
' with no significant effect on the flows available to water users on
Hardscrabble Creek or the Arkansas Basin.
