The sampling was conducted by Matt, Mike Savage and me during August
and September of this year,
The absence of perennial fortis other than alfalfa, poor grass establishment in
portions of the 1987 seeding, and questionable suitability of the Valertt sand
reference area are the primary concerns raised by the data. The 1986 areas
look very promising. It is too early to judge the 1987 seeding unsuccessful,
but if significant improvement is not shown over the next couple of years,
same mitigative treatment may be necessary.
It is my understanding that you are considering a seedmix modification to
include an additional perennial forb and also are considering a potential
alternative site for the Valent sand reference area. I look forward to
working with you on these issues. I would think they could be resolved during
the upcoming midterm review, if not sooner.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sin er ly,
/.
Dan T.
