As the data from the
three sampling episodes indicate, there is considerable difference between the total of site 700
and site 900 and the reading taken at site 29. It is likely that the rating curve at Site 29 is not
representative of the actual flow at site 29.
Bond Release Findines
In accordance with Rule 3.03.2(2), the Division is required to make an evaluation of whether
pollution of surface and subsurface waters is occurring, the probability of future occurance of
such pollution, and the estimated cost of abating such pollution, prior to releasing any
performance bond at a site.
Baseline water quantity and quality parameters, where available, were compazed to 1997 data for
Mine No. 3.
Bedrock Water Ouality
Well 008-77-58 is completed in the Wadge overburden downgradient of the reclaimed pit area.
A mazked decline in water level in this downgradient well corresponds to an increase in total
dissolved solids in January of 1980, from approximately 300 mg/I to 1600 mg/1.
