(See attached map.) <br />- Topsoil stockpiles #3, South, and ROM were graded and <br />broadcast seeded with the following stabilizing seed mix: <br />Species pls lbs/acre <br />Winter Rye 20 <br />San Luis Wheatgrass 3 <br />Jose Tall Wheatgrass 3 <br />San Luis and Jose Tall wheatgrasses were substituted for <br />Crested Wheatgrass at the suggestion of the Soil <br />Conservation Service office in San Luis. The San Luis <br />species was developed in the San Luis Valley and has <br />successfully been used at several highway reclamation. sites. <br />- The first and second lifts of Waste Rock Area D, W~.ste <br />Rock Area C, and the East Pit Backfill , were graded to a <br />3H:1V slope, topsoiled, and broadcast seeded with the <br />following seed mix: <br />Species pls lbs/acre <br />Winter Rye 20 <br />San Luis Wheatgrass 3 <br />Mountain Brome 3 <br />Jose Tall Wheatgrass 2.5 <br />Western Wheatgrass 2.5 <br />Cicer Milkvetch 1.5 <br />Sheep Fescue 1.5 <br />Indian Ricegrass 2 <br />Small Burnet 2 <br />Mountain Mahogany 0.5 <br />Mountain Muhly 1 <br />4-wing Saltbrush 1 <br />Yellow Sweet Clover 1 <br />Blue Flax 0.5 <br />Yarrow 0.25 <br />Blue Grama and winterfat seeds were not available. Tninter <br />Rye, San Luis w ea grass, Jose Tall Wheatgrass, Sheel• <br />Fescue, and Small Burnet were added to the grasses seeded to <br />improve the first year stand for stabilizing the slof•e. <br />4-Wing Saltbrush was substituted for Winterfat for a <br />browsing plant. Yellow Sweet Clover, Blue Flax, and Yarrow <br />were added to the seed mix as a range wildflower variety-.--~., <br />-In addition to seeding the East Pit Backfill, 1000 f•inyon <br />seedlings were planted in this area. <br />
