OPTIONS AND ALTERNATIVES <br />Several options may present economically attractive alternatives <br />as a supplement to the basic program described in this DDP Modification. <br />The principal options envisioned at this time are: <br />• Surface Retorting of Mined-Out-Shale <br />• On-Site Electric Power Generation from Low-Btu <br />Product Gas <br />• Alternative Water Supply and Management <br />Each of these cases is highly dependent upon economic and technical <br />factors that cannot be determined at this time. However, considering the <br />length of the program, it is conceivable that many of these factors will be- <br />come definable, resulting in an alternate course that will be advantageous <br />to the program. <br />These options are discussed in more detail in Section IV of <br />Modification to the DDP. <br />r~ <br /> <br />1 <br />-21- <br />
