Lachhead <br />EaeCV~ive Dinxtor <br />CC: David Eerry Mlchad e. ~onR <br />Divi:ton DireROr . <br />RE: 1993 and 1994 Annual Hydrology Reports, Somerset Mine, #C-81- <br />022 <br />As per your request, I reviewed the above-mentioned reports for the <br />Somerset Mine and have the following comments or questions. <br />General Comments <br />The operator should include a discussion of the results of <br />monitoring and how it supports or contradicts the probable <br />hydrologic consequences section of the permit. Currently, the <br />operator is only re-iterating the data collected for the year. <br />Apparently the changes in the monitoring program have made it <br />easier for the operator to comply with the approved plan as there <br />appears to be a marked improvement in compliance from 1993 to 1994. <br />Please have the operator explain the following ommissions. <br />1993 Annual Hydrology Report <br />Monitoring Freovenc <br />1. The following surface sites were not visited in May: C-1,U- <br />1,HN-1,S-1,S-2,NF-1,NF-2. <br />2. The November sample for site H-1 is missing metal values <br />except iron. <br />3. The 4th quarter sample at site NF-1 is missing metals, TDS, <br />and alkalinity. <br />4. Groundwater well SC-1 is missing visits in May, July, and <br />September and is missing a 4th quarter full suite sample. <br />5. Well SC-2 is missing all SAR values and missing a 4th quarter <br />sample. <br />
