t • u
CTL/THOMPSON, INC.
CONSULTING GEOTECHNICAL AND MATERIALS ENGINEERS
~~
August 19, 1983
Colorado Yampa Coal Company
P.0. Box 774428
Steamboat Springs, Colorado 80477
Attention: Mr. Ed Fidler
Subject: Quarterly Inspection
Excess Spoil Disposal Area I
Eckman Park Facility
Job No. 9490A
Gentlemen:
As you requested, we inspected Excess Spoil Disposal Area I on August 2,
1983. The purpose of our inspection was to look for evidence of slope
instability and to determine if the spoil had been placed in general
conformance with the design.
There was no evidence of slope failures at the time of our inspection.
No spoil had been placed since our last inspection in Apri] 1983. The
benches and outslopes were topsoiled and seeded, Placement of rip-rap
rock in the diversion ditch to the south of the area was in progress.
We understand that final grading, topsoiling and seeding of the top of
the spoil pile will be started in the near future.
Based upon our inspections of Excess Spoil Disposal Area I, we believe
that this facility is being constructed in general conformance with the
design. The spoil appears to be stable.
[f we can be of further service in discussing the contents of this
letter or our observations, please call.
Very truly yours,
~, -
CTL /THOhPSON, INC. /~ ~ '
Ronald M.
