4
reverse siphon located within the survey area. Information on the
• date of construction of this ditch could not be found in the reca-ds
at the Boulder County Courthouse.
A small irrigation ditch running through the survey area, they
Clough and True ditch, takes water from the South Branch supply ditch.
A portion of this ditch will reportedly be re-routed as a result of the
proposed gravel quarrying activities. The date of original approFriation
of water by means of the Clough and True is April 15, 1862 (cf. Appendix 11.
It was approved and entered on record on June 2, 1882. No other information
on this ditch could be found in the records of the Boulder County Court-
house.
The locations of the ditches described above are shown in Figure 2.
Recommendations
It is recommended that no known aboriginal cultural remains will be
affected by the proposed action nor is it likely that subsurface
aboriginal cultural remains will be encountered. Neither the Sout:~
Branch supply ditch or the Oligarchy ditch will be affected by the
gravel quarrying operations. It is also recommended that the Clow7h
and True ditch is not sufficiently unique, either historically or
technologically, to warrant eligibility for nomination to the
National Register of Historic Places.
•
