Mr. David Berry
October 26, 1988
Page 2
CYVCC RESPONSE:
The 1987 sampling program was discussed with the Division and approval
obtained for sampling bedrock wells in December. It was the intent for the
December sample to satisfy the year's monitoring requirements. CYCC
understood that two samples would be collected during 1988 to satisfy the
current water year's monitoring requirements. As previously agreed upon,
CYCC will obtain two full suite analyses from the bedrock wells during 1988.
In reference to carbonate, it is not reported when the pH is below the
carbonate end point (8.3 pH) for the alkalinity titration. The reason being
that all carbonate values are zero at or below this end point.
MLRD CONCERN:
Spoil Wells
Well 008-SP-5A -
A total of four field parameter measurements were obtained from this
well; however, two were obtained in May 1987, while no measurement was
taken during the last quarter of the water year. the approved
monitoring plan is designed to provide one set of such measurements for
each quarter of the water year. Please explain this deviation from the
approved plan.
Other missed sampling constituents are as follows:
Carbonate - all samples
Ammonia - 10/86
CYVCC RESPONSE:
Well 008-SP-5A -
In reference to carbonate and ammonia, the appropriate calculations have
been completed and the data base updated to include the parameters. The
updated report for this well is attached. Four field measurements were
obtained in the 1987 water year. These were 10/86, 1/87, 5/87 and 7/87, and
have been incorporated into the data base.
CMLRD CONCERN:
Well 008-SP-4A -
This well has been dry since installation. Please consider installing
another well that can be used to monitor water in the spoils. A
location lower in the drainage should be chosen.
