Mining expanded slightly southward in Tract AB. An expansion of the plant site was approved and nearly completed. Reclamation work involved mainly spot planting of previously planted areas and stabilization of topsoil stockpiles. RULE 2.41(1): LOCATION AND NUMBER OF ACRES AFFECTED DURING THAT YEAR. The annual report map shows the various areas where activity occurred. Generally, mining occurred over an area of about 7 acres. Most of that mining occurred in the Tract AA area, but some preparation and extraction occurred on or slightly south of the Tract AA/AB boundary. No mining has begun in Tract AC. The new Castle Concrete Office was completed and in full operation. A small addition was planned for the shop. This will be a small building attached to the existing building. It will house a machine shop. RULE 2.41(2): LOCATIONS AND NUMBER OF ACRES RECLAIMED FOR THAT YEAR. During 1985 little land was actually reclaimed. Attention was primarily applied to maintenance of the land reclaimed the previous year. Spot seeding of weak growth areas occurred on most of these areas. The large topsoil stockpile in the southeastern corner of the quarry was graded and seeded. Also, the roadsides of the Pikeview Road above the new office were seeded. Unfortunately, a small portion of this was disturbed shortly after seeding. That area will need to be reseeded next year. A small technical revision was approved regarding a road from the Castle Concrete Office site to the Mountain Shadows area to the south. In March this road was constructed and the roadsides were seeded shortly after the construction was finished. 1
