Additional Page
2006 Annual Report
Menzer Quarry REG~~~,;
M-1976-009-HR D~ 18100~~
Schmidt Construction Company o~~;S;o^ 6
Anniversary Date: December 31 M'^~^s~n~~m~n®„
SBt~Y
Overview of Permit Yeat: During the 2006 operating year there was a great deal of activity at this site.
However, in spite of all the mining done, the quarry changed only a little. This was because, as has been the case
fox some time, most of material that was mined was within areas that had previously been trained. The north
side of the affected land was where virtually all of the coining occurred. Mining on the south side of the
operation where mining has been done the last few years has essentially been completed, but mining on the
Floor of the quarry below that south side is continuing as the north side is reduced. Also the southwest coiner
was opened.
Annual Report Maps: Like the 2005 annual xepoxt map, this map is pxepaxed using the new topographic
map pxepaxed in 2004. Unfortunately, due to a scaling error in the map fox last year, all of the acreages of
affected land have declined significantly. The current values axe correct while the values reported last Yeax were
greater than they should have been.
Affected Lands: The amount of affected has changed from last Yeax. Although ntitting on the north side of
the operation lowered that area considerably, expansion was virtually zero. Most of the additional affected land
is accounted fox in the continued expansion of cleared land in preparation fox mining and the opening of the
southwestern corner of the site. This additional clearing occurred in the western portion of the permit area,
however as of the date of the annual xepoxt not all of it has been cleared.
Stability Problem Area: Last year a small knob was discussed that exhibits some stability problems. Nothing
has been done and the knob is fairly secure at this point. Mining in other nearby areas is proceeding in a fashion
that will allow access to remove this knob in the future.
Revegetation: The site is stable and is not subject to erosion. No xevegetation was done in 2006 as no land
was available to revegetate.
Expected Activity (2007): Mining will continue in areas that have akeady been opened for xninictg. It is
possible that in the next year mining will be opened on the central ridge that is currently being cleared, but this
is not likely. The first mining on the central ridge probably will not occur unti12008 ar even 2009.
Bonding: This operation is covered by a self bond.
Schmidt Construction Company 2006 Annual Report M-76-009-HR Menzer Quarry Page 1 of 1
