His address is
P.O. Box 37, Desert Center, CA 92239. The permit area is located on 312 acres of private land
approximately 4 miles northwest of Walsenburg in Section 25, T27S, R67W. Mine disturbance
including the pit, facilities areas, and sediment control structures affected approximately 73.5 acres.
The pit area was reclaimed in 1989 and the sediment control system was reclaimed in 1992 with
shrub and warm season grassinterseedingin ]993.
Rill and gully inspections did not show evidence of any erosional features on the reclaimed areas
even through several significant storm events occurred during the summer season. As a result, no
reclamation activities were conducted at the site during 1998. Phase II[ vegetation sampling was
conducted during 1948 (year 9 of the liability period) which indicated a permanent self-sustaining
stand of grasses and fortis.
Should you have questions or need additional information concerning this report, please do not
hesitate to contact Mr. Mike Keegan at Kaiser or let me know.
Sincerely,
Jerry H.
