III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
REVISION TO
FILL UNDERDRAIN
CARBON JUNCTION MINE
DURANGO, COLORADO
April 17, 1984
RECEIVED
APR 18 1984
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
Colo. Dept of Natural Resources
The underdrain structure described on pages 6 and 7 of the May 4, 1983
Response to Final Adequacy Concerns for Carbon Junction Mine Permit
Application is further revised as to construction and design.
To facilitate construction of the underdrain, the Carbon Junction
channel bottom will be smoothed to a 10 foot width from the designated toe
of the fill (see Map 5-1), 1,300 feet upstream into the pit. Boulders,
brush and vegetation will be removed from the underdrain area. As they are
available, soils will be stripped and stockpiled.
The natural stream flow upstream from the underdrain will be
intercepted by the west collection channel (WC). Previous to diversion,
the WC will be constructed through the area of pit segments A-1 and D-1
maintaining the grade and channel dimensions specified in Appendix 5-2.
This temporary channel, as illustrated on the Map 5-1, will be maintained
until such time as mine segment A-1 ie completed. The WC will then be
routed into pit segment A-1 as previously described on page 58 in the
permit application.
1
