APPROXIMATE ACREAGE TO BE RECLAIMED IN NEXT REPORT YEAR: 7
Mining during the report year continued on this permit site in Area I and in Area 3.
Please refer to the attached Annual Report Map. Mining in Area 1 continued to the north
and utilized overburden in the reclamation backfill for "pit-side" river stabilization per
UD&FCD requirements. Approximately 6 acres were mined in Area 1 and
approximately I.5 acres were backfilled in this area. Approximately 4.5 acres were
mined on the lower bench (Area 3) and this azea was concurrently backfilled. No seeding
or revegetation was implemented on this permit site, as the overburden stockpile is in
various stages of disturbance with the addition and subtraction of material. Backfill to
grade on the lower bench is the only reclamation activity that occurred in this area.
Mining during the next reporting year will be located on the lower bench, in Area 3 of the
permit area, where this location will be completely mined and backfilled. This mining
will be accomplished during the low-flow period for flooding on the S. Platte River
ending on April 1, 2002. Mining will also continue in Area 1, north and east of the
currently mined-out portion. Reclamation will be implemented as revegetation on the
lower bench (Area 3) and will be completed in this area.
This permit is currently undergoing an amendment, which when approved, will allow
mining to continue north and west of the current permit azea.
