(BMRI) - San Luis
DMG Permit No. M-88-112
Bi-Weekly Water Sample Report
February 17-18, 1993 Sampling Event
Dear Mr. Oehler:
Enclosed are the analytical reports from Core Laboratgries
for the bi-weekly water samples collected on
February 17-18, 1993 as specified in the April 1992
Abatement Plan. The final analytical reports from Cone Labs
were received at the San Luis mine on May 12, 1993. ~'he
cross-reference table between sample identification numbers
and sample locations is attached. As specified in TR-006,
calculated free and wad cyanide values for the process point
samples are enclosed.
No deviations from the sampling QA/QC protocols, TR-006,
were noted for any of the samples collected. However, it
should be noted that approximately eight inches of ice was
chipped from the surface of the RS-5 sampling location
before flowing water was reached. The sediments in the
stream bed were disturbed during ice removal. The stream
bed was given time (approximately 15 minutes) to settle, and
the flowing water was allowed to visibly clear. Wells M-9,
M-12, and M-13, the five process points, and RS-5 were
sampled. Wells M-2, M-6, M-7, and M-8 and the three
lysimeter pairs were checked and found to be dry. A barrel
filter rinse blank and a field blank were taken as field
quality control samples.
The initial analysis by Core Labs of the cyanide sampl s for
the lower pond (930218 BMG 02) and pre-detox (930218 B~7G 05)
showed CN-wad values greater than CN-total values. Th~
initial analysis for the lower pond showed 0.20 ppm CN wad
and 0.18 ppm CN-total and for pre-detox showed 207 ppm,CN-
wad and 202 ppm CN-total. The samples were re-analyze~3.
The lower pond re-analysis values showed 0.04 ppm CN-wed and
0.13 ppm CN-total, while the pre-detox re-analysis vallues
continued to show a higher CN-wad (186 ppm) than CN-total
(173 ppm). It should be noted that all cyanide values
reported for the lower pond samples collected on February 18
were below permit limits.

it
A.SUF.SIDlAFY OF FA17l.F MOUNFAlN C.OCO COMPANY
P.O.
