Standing dead, litter, and bare soil, each had 2.0%, 5.7%, and 9.0% cover, respectively (fast hits). <br />Average species density was 38.7 species7100 sq.m. <br />Production <br />(Table 13) <br />Total average production was 763.7 Ibs/acre. Native perennial (orbs and native perennial cool <br />season grasses contributed the most with an average production of 396.1 and 331.9 Ibs/acre <br />respectively (together making up approximately 95% of the total production). <br />MOUNTAIN BRUSH EXTENDED REFERENCE AREA <br />(Photographs 29-32) <br />Cover <br />(Table 14) <br />Native shrubs were most abundant, comprising 55.7% of the total 85.4% vegetation cover (all <br />hits). Within this group, Gambel's oak (Quercus gambelii) and mountain snowberry <br />(Symphoricarpos rotundifolius) were most common, having 29.8% and 13.7% cover, respectively. <br />Native perennial cool season grasses were the second most abundant group (17.4% cover), <br />dominated by Agassiz bluegrass (Poa agassizensis) (7.2% cover) and elk sedge (Carex geyen) <br />(5.2% cover). Native perennial (orbs were the third most abundant Iifeform (10.1 % cover), having <br />numerous species with low percent cover values and no dominant species. Tailcup lupine <br />(Lupinus caudatus), western yarrow (Achilles lanulosa), and American vetch (Vicia americans), <br />had the highest percent cover values of this group (1.9%, 1.7%, and 1.5%, respectively). <br />Total average vegetation cover, for first hits, was 64.7%. Total average vegetation cover, for all <br />hits, was 85.4%. Standing dead, litter, bare soil, and rock each had 1.6%, 23.5%, 9.6%, and <br />0.6% cover, respectively (first hits). Average species density was 27.6 species/100 sq.m. <br />Production <br />(Table 15) <br />Total average production was 556.7' Ibs/acre.
