Dept. of Natural Resources On January 13, 1982, Schmidt-Tiago Construction Co. had Mazk Heifner of Environmental Services conduct a review of our pits in the E1 Paso County azea.. To our dismay Mr. Heifner reported that we had not filed any annual reports on our pits after 1978. The employee .who was in chazge of filling out the annual reports is no longer with the company. Schmidt-Tiago has begun a program to correct these problems. we are investigating all company files and financial records to determine if any annual reports were ia.fact submitted and fees paid. we aze having Leigh Whitehead & Associates compaze all permits in all respects to what has occurred on the ground to determine if any violation of the permits have occurred. Mr. Mazk Heifner has started work on all the annual reports to bring them up to date. We hope to have all the annual reports into your department by April 1, 1982. As pointed out by Mark Loge on January 13, 1982, we need to close the Willazd Rice Pit (74-3) as soon as possible. Schmidt-Tiago has not worked the pit since 1975. Mark Heifner advised that we have a meeting as soon as possible to determine what course of action would be best. we aze also in the process of giving pazt of the pit to the E1 Paso County Park system. If you can advise me when we could have a meeting .on this subject I would work my schedule around it. ,. ..
