•
Introduction
The informstion assembled in this 1994 Annual Hydrology Report (AHR) includes data
collected from approved monitoring sites established at Seneca Coel Company~s (SCC) Seneca
l1-Y Mine (State Permit Mo. C-82-057). Locations of monitoring sites discussed in this
report can be found by referring to Exhibit 7-1, Hydrology Monitoring Map. Please take
this map from the 1993 AHR and insert into this AXR.
All references to 1994 will be for Yater Year 1994 (October 1, 1993 through September 30,
1994) unless otherwise noted. All tables referred to in the following text can be found
in Appendix A. In addi Lion, a table of contents for Appendix A is given et the beginning
of that appendix. Figure 1 (Appendix A) shows the area mined in 1994.
Field conductivity and pH meters were calibrated prior to each days use. The conductivity
meter is calibrated using a potassium chloride solution with an electrical conductivity in
the 1000 [0 3000 umhos/cm range. The pH meter is calibrated using YBS traceable buffers
with pH values of 7 and 10.
• Prior to October t, 1989, all field conductivity values collected at Seneca ]I-Y
monitoring sites were not corrected for temperature (i.e., 25° C). Field conductivity
date starting on October 1, 1989 were temperature corrected to 25° C. The formula for
correcting non-corrected condueti vity date may be found in the 1990 through 1992 AHRS.
SCC committed to the abandonment of eleven monitoring wells (GY-52Y-1Y, 10V, 2YC, 2V, 20V,
3EY, 3EI, 3EYC, SY, SOY, and 10Y) in Teehniesl Revision 21 approved February 17, 1994.
These Yells have been previously dropped from the monitoring program due to faulty grout
seals. All these Yells were abandoned in September, 1994. Table 3 (Appendix A) fiats the
grid coordinates, depth, elevation, and diameters for each of these Yells. Drill hole
abandonment forms (which presents the date abandoned and type of abandonment material) are
included in Appendix A1.
Meteorological Date
Precipitation data at the Seneca 11-Y Mine has been collected since August 28, 1989.
Precipitation data is collected from a 8elfort Yeighing Bucket Rain Gage situated adjacent
• to Site SY-S2Y-FG1. Data for the 1994 Yater Year may be found in Table 1 (Appendix A).
1
