ermittee Name:
Permit No:
Operation Name:
Anniversary Date:
~~er Building Materials, Corp. • •
M-77-129
Whitewater 500 Pit
091 22 / 92
Reference is made to MLRB Rules and Regulations, Section
2.4.1.
(1) Mining continued in Stage 1 and Stage C on the areas pre-
viously stripped. In Stage 1 we removed an additional 8.66
acres ± and in Stage C we mined 2.05 ac. ± (brown). All of
the area mined was disturbed previously. The plant site in
Stages W, 2 and 2 is still in use (tan). In addition the
gravel stockpiled in the bottom of Stage 1 was removed, this
leveled the floor of the lake area. The overburden was
stripped from the area we will mine next year in Stages 1 and
D and stockpiled for use in reclamation.
(2) We have resumed backfilling in Stage Y as approved (yellow).
No other stages require reclamation at this time. No planting
was scheduled for this year. A small section of bank sloping
totaling 1.85 acres ±, was shaped on the south side of Stage
1 (green). Most of the materials mined this year were
confined to the portion of Stage 1 that will be lake bottom
when reclamation is complete. Stage 1 has 3920 linear feet
(9.90 acres ±) and Stages A, B & C have 1700 linear feet (2.11
ac. ±) of 3h to lv bank sloping complete (dark green).
Topsoiling is also complete on the above water slopes of these
areas.
(3) We will mine in the areas stripped last year. Stage one will
have approximately 3.85 acres mined next year, this will
complete mining in Stage 1 (dark blue). Mining will start on
the 1.82 acres ± stripped in Stage D (dark blue). Stage Z is
still in use as approved in the plan. Mining may start in
Stage 2 this year depending on the demand for material in our
market area.
(4) The amendment submitted in 1981 explained that until we stop
dewatering Stage 1 the chances of establishing vegetation in
Stages X, Y and the banks of Stage 1, are very slim because of
the very arid conditions in this area. Until water re-fills
the lake, we will not be revegetating Stages X, Y and 1. We
will continue backfilling the area in Stage Y as approved. We
will continue to establish slopes in the mined area as called
for in the reclamation plan.
(5) The current contact for this pit is:
Mr. Edward Gardner
Whitewater Building
Materials Corp.
940 South 10th Street
Grand Junction, CO 81502
(303) 242-7538
Fed Tax ID ~

.~.
