_ • • , .<
COMMENTS
The reclamation at the site appears to be very successful. The
areas seeded in 1984 have a variety of perennial grasses and few weedy
species. Big sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata) plants are very numerous
in Lhe 1989 area and over time, this species will probably become the
dominant species on the site.
The 1988 area is in only its first growing aeason. The presence
of weedy species is very common on sites during the first growing
season, so it is not surprising to see annual fortis occurring as
dominant species. The seeding was very successful, and perennial
grasses already provide quite a bit of cover.
Unless the site experiences severe drought conditions in the next
year or two, it is likely that increases in cover by the perennial
grasses and by big sagebrush can be expected.
