1
' 1.0 Hydrologic Monitoring Activities
' The hydrologic monitoring program at the Mt. Gunnison site
' was initiated in 1974 with the completion of several ground-
water observation wells. The monitoring program has ex-
' panded considerably over time. In Water Year 1983, the
' program entailed extensive hydrologic monitoring including
the following:
1
1. Continuous flow monitoring at seven stream gaging sta-
' tions with quarterly water quality sampling plus con-
' tinuous flow monitoring at the outlet from Beaver
Reservoir.
2. Quarterly water quality sampling at three additional
' surface water quality monitoring stations: Minnesota
' Creek above South Prong confluence, the North Fork
Gunnison River above Sylvester Gulch and the North Fork
Gunnison River below the mine.
' 3. Monthly measurement of discharge, pH, temperature and
' conductivity at thirteen springs.
' 4. Quarterly measurement of discharge and water quality at
thirty-four springs.

-5-
r
