discharge from the underground mine and dischazges related to the surface mines. The data
from the stations on Fish Creek show the typical seasonal variation. Due to the low runoff in
1990 the minimum flows are very low. The flow data for fish Creek are presented on Figures
28 through 30 and 41. No impact from the activities at the Tipple or Borehole are indicated by
the data.
The two sites on Trout Creek indicated the impacts of irrigation on the stream flow. Due to
relatively large irrigation withdrawals in 1990 the stream flow at Station 69 were significantly
lower than at Station 301 during the irrigation season. The flow data for Trout Creek are
presented on Figures 31 and 32. The discharge from the underground mine probably helped
maintain some flow in Trout Creek below Middle Creek.
Water Quality
Water quality samples aze collected at all the primary sites on a regulaz basis. The water quality
summaries for Foidel Creek aze presented on Tables 31 to 34. The water quality summaries for
Fish creek are presented on Tables 35 and 43. The water quality summaries for Trout Creek
are presented on Tables 44 to 47. Plots of historic field conductivity for Foidel Creek are
presented on Figures 34 and 35. The plot of historical field conductivity for Fish Creek near
the tipple is presented on Figure 36. The plot of historical field conductivity and iron for Fish
Creek near the Fish Creek Borehole is presented on Figure 38 and 48 respectively. The plot
of historic iron concentrations for Fish Creek neaz the tipple is presented on Figure 37. The plot
of historical field conductivity for Trout Creek is presented on Figure 39.
The base level of field conductivity measured during spring runoff, was higher for the
downstream site on Foidel Creek. It is approximately 2000 umhos/cm upstream and 2500
downstream. Since 1981 the base level for conductivity at both sites has been increasing.
During irrigation season the field conductivity at Station 800 was approximately 2500 umhos/cm
and at Station 8 was approximately 3000 umhos/cm in 1990. A difference between the levels
at the two stations was evident before the beginning of underground mining; therefore, it is at
-7-
