Walther Executive Director Ronald W. Cottony Division Director The Division has completed review of the 2002 Annual Hydrology Report (AHR) for the Golden Eagle Mine. Reporting included water level and quality monitoring of alluvial wells, water level monitoring of bedrock wells, water level and quality monitoring of the flooding mine workings, and monitoring of springs and seeps in the affected area. Monitoring Frequency The monitoring frequency was met in accordance with the approved plan during 2002. No deviations from the plan were noted. Surface Water Quantity and Quality Surface water monitoring has been eliminated at this site. The mine has no appreciable impact to the surface water system. Ground Water Quantity and Quality Data collected during 2002 indicates impact to ground water levels, likely from extended drought conditions that have prevailed over the past several years. Monitoring of all bedrock ground water wells surrounding the general vicinity of the mined area indicate a slight drop in water levels measured from the previous year.
