The Division has reviewed your responses to our review of the 1995
Annual Hydrology Report for the Eastside Mine. The items are
discussed below in the same order as the original review letter and
your responses:
Items 1 through 4: These items have been adequately addressed.
Item 5: The monitoring requirements for the Harvey Gag
outlet (above and below the mine) are semi-
annual. However, both of these sites were
monitored only once.' You indicated that the
lack of chemical data for December, 1995 was
not discovered until the Hydrology Report was
being prepared in March of 1996. At the time
the error was discovered, according to your
response, samples were taken to replace them
in April, 1996.
It would appear that the error may not have
been corrected until the Division's April 11
review of the AHR pointed it out, as the
April, 1996 results were not included in the
original AHR submittal. The operator is
cautioned to pay closer attention to the
monitoring requirements of the permit and to
perform all monitoring in a timely manner.
The April, 1996 samples will be accepted for
the 1995 report; however, these results will
not fulfill the monitoring requirements for
1996. Samples must still be obtained for July
and December, 1996.
