EASTSIDE mine
Summary of 2004 Water Monitoring
Extent of Minine
No mining has occurred at the Eastside Mine since December 1994. The buildings and surface facilities
were remove from the mine site, the portals were sealed and surface azea was regazded in May, June and
July of 1995. In September of 1995 the disturbed azea was seeded with the approved seed mixture as
listed in the approved Mining and Reclamation Permit. The azea is inspected on a quarterly basis to
ensure that the stormwater management plan and sediment control system are functioning property.
The sediment control system was removed and reclaimed in December 2001. The area regazded was
seeded in October 2002.
Flow and Field Parameters
The flow and field parameters of the Harvey Gap Outlet above and below the mine continue to
demonstrate the seasonal dischazges from the Harvey Gap Reservoir. The Above Mine pH ranged from
6.5 to 7.5. The aabove Mine conductivity ranged from 496 to 707 microohms/cm. Above Mine
Temperature ranged from 5.1 to 24.2 degrees Centigade. The Below Mine pH ranged from 6.0 to 7.0.
The Below Mine Conductivity ranged from 484 to 860 microohms/cm. Below Mine Temperature
ranged from 1.2 to 20.9 degrees Centigrade. The Seep pH ranged from 6.0 to 7.6. Seep conductivity
ranged from 781 to 1029 microohms/cm. Seep temperature ranged from 2.6 to 18.3 degrees Centigrade
Chemical Parameters
In the Above Mine samples the average Calcium is much greater than previous yeazs. That is a result of
the July sample being much higher than any previous sample. The results from the sample taken in July
for the Seep also shows a high Calcium value. As all the other samples have been within the same
range, the July sample was considered an anomaly. All the other pazameters appeazed to be within the
range of previous historical sample results.
Impacts on Surface and Ground Water
No dischazge has occurred from Sediment Pond SP-1 or from the underground mine workings.
The water monitoring data aze listed on the attached tables found in the Data and Statistical Information
section beginning on Page 5 to and including Page 10. A comparison of 2004 data with 1996- 2003 data
indicates no measurable impacts on ground or surface water have occurred due to mining or reclamation
activities at the Eastside Mine. Tables with the 1996-2004 data, which were compazed, are on pages 11
through 21.
