Walther
Executive Director
Michael 6. long
Director
I have reviewed the two semi-annual 1998 subsidence reports you forwarded
for the Foidel Creek mine. Twenty Mile Coal Company (TMC) submitted its semi-
annual "First-Half Subsidence Monitoring Report for 1998" and the
corresponding "Second-Half Subsidence Monitoring Report for 1998". These
reports present survey data and visual reconnaissance monitoring reports for
the affected structures and Foidel Creek. The methodology and procedures used
in preparing both documents appear appropriate and in compliance with the /-
permit requirements.
The structures monitored during the reported period include Routt County Road
#33, the Union Pacific railroad spur track, and the Hayden-Gore Pass, Wolcott
Tap -Wolcott, and Western Area Power Administration high voltage electric
transmission lines. Foidel Creek was also inspected and profiled above Panels
6, 7, 8, and 9 Right, each of which subsided during the report period.
The First-Half report is brief, but appropriate and complete, as it is only
intended to be a transmission of data. I recommend its acceptance as
submitted, including the data diskette containing the EXCEL spreadsheet
subsidence data files.
